On Your Bike

The children in 3rd - 6th class have just completed an extremely worthwhile cycle safety course. The course was facilitated by Cycle Ireland and our trainer was Gerry Butler. The children were taught and reminded of rules of the road in a very practical, hands-on approach.
Thanks to Gerry for making it so memorable.

Christmas Concert Fun

Last night, we had such fun. We sang, we danced, we laughed.

The children from the junior room were first on stage with their drama "Ralph the Reindeer". This hilarious production was followed by songs, music and poetry.

The children from the senior classroom were next up with "Hosanna Rock" - a nativity musical. The singing was spectacular. Poetry, song and music brought their act to a close.

Both classrooms worked together an a collaborative piece of dancing. The night on stage was concluded by a powerful whole school carol service.

The children were fantastic - not a nerve in sight! They did themselves proud. They are a credit to themselves and their families.

Home-baked cakes and buns, sweets, hot food, tea and coffee was served to our large audience and an exciting raffle of donated prizes took place.

It was a great night and wouldn't be possible without the great support we receive from the parents of the school, past pupils and community members. Thank you so so much.

Happy Halloween!

We enjoyed "spooky" fun at our Halloween party. We played traditional Halloween games, scared each other in our costumes and of course ate lots of sweets. Yummy!

We hope everybody has a lovely mid-term break.

See you all again on Monday November 7th.

Buddy Reading

We have completed a six week course of Buddy Reading - a child from the junior classroom is paired up with a "buddy" from the senior classroom. Together, they read and enjoy books, growing in confidence and building on their friendship

Best of luck to Chrissy Barrett and the Mayo team on Saturday in the All-Ireland replay against Dublin. Chrissy is a past pupil of Barnatra NS and represents Barnatra, Belmullet and Mayo with pride and passion. He is the son of our very hard-working secretary Geraldine Barrett.

We're all very proud of you Chrissy!

End of September already!

Imagine, we have one full month of  the new school year completed already. Time flies when you're having fun! We've accomplished so much and I'm sure everybody's hard work and dedication will continue. Keep up the great work

PAWS

On Monday, November 9th, Michelle Healy from Irish Water Safety visited the school and the senior classes undertook the PAWS3 Programme. We learned all about how to keep safe around water and how to help others who are in difficulty. We threw life buoy and rope and practiced all the various rescues. we all got a certificate too! We learned a lot and had great fun. Thanks Michelle
