Barnatra NS – National Winners of the “Microsoft Future STEM Leaders” Award

 

The Microsoft Dream Space Showcase is a large-scale, annual exhibition where primary and secondary students present hands-on STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) projects.

It celebrates the culmination of months of work where students use coding, AI, and micro-controllers to solve real-world sustainability and community challenges.

Young learners work on projects using devices like Micro:bits to tackle real-world challenges related to the UN Sustainable Development Goals

The initiative aims to bridge the digital skills gap and inspire youth to pursue careers in the STEM sector by fostering critical thinking and collaboration.

At the showcase, hundreds of students gather to demonstrate their creations, participate in adjudicator evaluations, and compete for NextGen awards.

Spini - first purchased by a Mayo primary school

 Using our department grant for the promotion of STEM, we are proud to introduce our SPINI.

But what is it?

The SPINI VR Chair is a purpose-built rotational sensory seat designed for neurodiverse individuals through quick and effective sensory regulation. Developed in collaboration with neurodevelopmental specialists, it combines gentle 360° movement with immersive VR experiences to help users reset their nervous system fast

Bí Cineálta Noification 2025

 Notification regarding the board of management’s annual review of the school’s Bí Cineálta Policy

The Board of Management of Barnatra NS confirms that the board of management’s annual review of the school’s Bí Cineálta Policy to Prevent and Address Bullying Behaviour and its implementation was completed at the board of management meeting of May 28th 2025. 

This review was conducted in accordance with the requirements of the Department of Education’s Bí Cineálta Procedures to Prevent and Address Bullying Behaviour for Primary and Post-Primary Schools.

Microsoft Dreamspace

 We had the most fantastic day at the Microsoft/Foróige Dreamspace event in Belmullet today, picking up an "Honourable Mention Award".

We were also honoured and privileged to be selected by Microsoft to be the focus of a behind the scenes film, documenting the preparations and excitement of going to the event. It was such a worthwhile and exciting experience for us all to work with a multi-national company. Also to witness, experience and participate in video production.

The children were absolutely fantastic ❤️👌✨️

Adam Visits with All the Cups !

 Past pupil, Adam Mills, visited us recently with not one, but 4 trophies!!

Adam was part of the Crossmolina GAA team that won the All-Ireland Intermediate All-Ireland final.

He brought with him the league cup, the county cup, the provincial cup AND the All-Ireland cup.

He is such an inspiration to us all and we really appreciate coming to share in his success.
