We celebrated Creative Schools Week last week from Monday 9th May to Friday 13th May.

The theme was 'Creativity Lives Here' and it certainly was evident in Barnatra NS with children creating through cooking, baking, painting, sketching, constructing, writing poetry,  working with clay, using Lego,  creating using 3D computer games like Minecraft and Roblox, tie dying and much more.

Our Creative Co-ordinator Deirbhle Healy visited the school on Tuesday and did drama and drama games with the children which they enjoyed immensely.

On Wednesday Patrick Calpin a local chef visited the school and did a cookery demonstration using the potato as a common ingredient. He made potato and leek soup, potato croquettes, potato salad and boxty. It all went down a treat and the children enjoyed tasting his delicious bites!

It inspired the children to cook at home with the potato as the main ingredient and be creative with their recipes.

On Thursday Barnatra NS had a Crazy Hair and Pyjamas Day. The children and staff got really creative with their hairstyles and bedazzled us all with their creations!

The children also presented their creative projects in school that day .We were really impressed with their inventiveness and creativity.

For Art in school the children in the Senior Room used clay and created lots of interesting objects and creatures using the Summer as their theme.

In the Junior Room the children were given free reign with all the art materials and had to come up with their own imaginative and creative art work. It was a joy to see their creativity in action.

We had a great week and really enjoyed seeing the children's creative  inventions.
