Our Visit to Ballinglen Arts Centre

On Wednesday October 15th, we travelled to Ballinglen Arts Centre, located in Ballycastle, Co.Mayo.

We brought with us a gloss photograph of ourselves and we etched it with a sharp tool. We then painted ink onto the photo and scrubbed off the excess ink. After that we put it in the printing press so the picture could be pressurised onto the paper. Then we took a tour around the art gallery.

While we were taking the tour of the art galleries, we saw some beautiful paintings by Donald Tensky. We learned that the paintings are in the artists eyes. We learned about the couple who founded the centre. We learned about the artists who work there. Their names are Nuala and Úna. They are really talented artists.

What I found interesting was the art gallery because I think every picture has a story and I always get lost in them. My favourite piece was a painting by Donald Tensky and it was a painting of a cliff with the sea below it. I was told how he went painting outside and the rain actually splashed onto his paper, making it look like it was raining in the painting.

We had a great day.
