Microsoft Dreamspace

We had the most fantastic day at the Microsoft/Foróige Dreamspace event in Belmullet today, picking up an "Honourable Mention Award".

We were also honoured and privileged to be selected by Microsoft to be the focus of a behind the scenes film, documenting the preparations and excitement of going to the event. It was such a worthwhile and exciting experience for us all to work with a multi-national company. Also to witness, experience and participate in video production.

The children were absolutely fantastic ❤️👌✨️

Adam Visits with All the Cups !

Past pupil, Adam Mills, visited us recently with not one, but 4 trophies!!

Adam was part of the Crossmolina GAA team that won the All-Ireland Intermediate All-Ireland final.

He brought with him the league cup, the county cup, the provincial cup AND the All-Ireland cup.

He is such an inspiration to us all and we really appreciate coming to share in his success.

Well done Adam

Blacksod Lighthouse

We studied lighthouses in Geography. We also studied the role of Blacksod Lighthouse and Maureen Sweeney in D-Day and World War 2. On Friday March 15th, we enjoyed a fabulous tour of Blacksod Lighthouse, under the guidance of Fergal.

We are now awaiting the publication of the novel "The Weather Girls" written by Sarah Webb. It is a fictional story based on real life events - World War 2 and it is set in Blacksod Lighthouse.

We're hoping to meet the author Sarah Webb during her upcoming visit to Belmullet.

STEM - Robotics - Vex - Galway

The children from the senior classroom travelled to Galway to participate in the Vex Robotics challenge in ATU Galway on Wednesday January 17th.

We left the school at 6:15am on a cold, wintery morning with our robot, which the children have worked extremely hard on since September. The challenge is to design and build a robot, capable of competing in tasks and to code the robot to work autonomously.

We had a fantastic day - learning more about robotics, meeting children from other schools and of course, the craic on the bus was great 😀
